Statement of the Afghanistan Media Organization on the Occasion of World Radio Day

Radio, as one of the oldest and most widespread means of mass communication, has always played a fundamental role in informing, educating, and strengthening social cohesion. In Afghanistan, where a large portion of the population has access to this medium, radio is not only a vital source of news and information but also serves as a bridge between different cultures, ethnicities, and languages across the country.

On the occasion of World Radio Day, the Afghanistan Media Organization extends its appreciation to all journalists, presenters, producers, and other professionals working in this field. Additionally, to encourage audio media, the organization has awarded a certificate of appreciation to Radio Salam Watandar, one of the country’s most influential and popular radio stations.

It is worth noting that at a time when freedom of expression and access to information face serious challenges, the role of radio in raising awareness, defending the truth, and amplifying the people’s voice has become more crucial than ever.

As a media organization, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting independent journalism, impartial reporting, and fostering a culture of dialogue through radio waves. We also call on all national and international organizations to support media freedom and ensure the safety of journalists in Afghanistan.

We hope that radio waves will always carry messages of peace, hope, and awareness for our people.
